Event Title: OT and Tic Disorders
Event Description: This presentation will provide occupational therapy practitioners with knowledge about pediatric tic disorders, including their prevalence, signs and symptoms, evidence-based treatment strategies, and appropriate referral pathways. Special emphasis will be placed on how tics impact occupational engagement and participation in daily activities. Practitioners will also learn practical strategies and recommendations for supporting children with tic disorders while staying within the OT scope of practice.

Speakers' Biographies:
Will Simonson, OTD, OTR/L, will serve as the primary presenter. He brings four years of pediatric occupational therapy experience and currently works as a research professional with the Minnesota Tic and Compulsivity Lab. In this role, he provides Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) to children and adolescents with tic disorders.
Christine Conelea, PhD, LP, will serve as the co-presenter. She is a licensed clinical psychologist with over ten years of experience working with youth with tic disorders and is the principal investigator of the Minnesota Tic and Compulsivity Lab.
Learning Objectives:
1. Attendees will be able to identify potential signs of tics and differentiate them from similar behaviors associated with comorbid conditions, such as sensory-seeking behaviors, obsessions/compulsions, and choreiform movements.
2. Attendees will be able to identify and assess how tics impact occupational performance and participation.
3. Attendees will be able to describe common treatment approaches for tic disorders and identify appropriate referral sources in their area.
4. Attendees will be able to provide children and parents with evidence based strategies and recommendations to improve occupational performance and participation in children with tic disorders.
